my 90 XJ came real close the year before to failing. So about two weeks before smogging this year. Ran half can of seafoam though motor and the other half in a full tank of gas. Drove it till almost empty on gas. Then I replaced O2 sensor filled her up ran it real good on the drive to smog...
Had the same problem. Turned out to be Fuel pump going bad. Couldn't build anymore than 20 psi. Changed it out (no need to drop tank) Fuel pressure 31psi at idle and 45psi with throttle.
So i developed a leak in the t case. Traced it to where the t case and tranny connect. After looking at pages of old threads I think i got it down on how remove it. Well other than the standard tools and a floor jack and a seal puller what else do i need? Does the new seal need to be pressed in...
Was 4 wheeling today and came across a burned dodge 1500. What rear axle came on the dodge 1500 quad cab and would it be salvagable to put on my rig. It is a later model truck. 2000 and up.
Thanks
I pretty much had the exact same thing with my 90 XJ. I eventually found I had less then 20 psi fuel pressure. No matter what i did I couldn't get it above 20. Changed out fuel pump Idles at 31 psi. Changing my fuel pump cured not only my power loss issue but my wandering idle and hard starting...

I did change it out but the new one was bad faulty wiring somewhere. Couldnt not get it to read anything. I am going to have my buddy who is a machinst get the stud out for me.
I am starting to get frustrated. I have a problem when I am acceclerating hard there is a dead spot at about 1/3 pedel to right before WOT. So after consulting the NAXJA folks it seemed like most were saying my TPS. Well I decided since I was going to mess with that I would take care of another...
My 1990 4.0 is losing power about 1/3 into the pedel. I posted it up and was told to check my TPS. Did the Neg D terminal to Positive A terminal had 4.73 volts. Hooked up positive to B had 4.18 volts. Pretty close to specs. 5.0 and 4.2 repectively are what is called for. Checked for Vacuum leaks...
