I have a heater core from O'rielys, Its been in there for almost 4 years, no leaks and you could cook a turkey in the jeep if you wanted to. It is tedious/time consuming, but not difficult job to do.

Exactly what i did with mine, spun the wheel around and went through one of the lug holes. Been that way for years...

If its clogged, punch it till you can get another. It will do more harm than good leaving it clogged.

Slip yoke? Mine sounded similar, just pulled the D/S and greased up the splines on the transfer case, Might be worth a look....

I think I also flipped the wheel around, for the stock bolt to work.... Im deployed right now and can't quite remember what it looks like.

I just removed the little "foot" that the tire would sit on, and ran the threaded rod through one of the stud holes. Its a snug fit but its good.

So, how much do you think the Supercharger setup ran you?
