I just bought a 90 xj and so far with replacing the inexpensive things it will not pass emissions, I was informed that it is the sellers responsibility to get it to pass, any suggestions on getting the seller to at least help pay to fix it. Is selling a vehical that wont pass have any repurcutions?

The 1990 cherokee I just bought is lifted 5 inches and has a transfer case drop, however the mount, on the body, that the transfer case shift linkage connects to was not lowered with the t-case. It rod has snaked its way out of the point of attachment to the t-case. Any ideas? Possibly where...

1990 cherokee, 4.0l 4wd, 5 speed

During the high speed run of my emissions test the CO levels were high, which apparently indicates rich air/fuel. I am planning to change the oil, air filter, spark plugs, and possibly the plug wires distributer cap and rotor. Any other suggestions or tips... The jeep runs great not sure what...

After finding a gravel road I went to test out the 4wd. The shift handle does not seem to go all the way forward to 2H and feels very sloppy, it seems to have only two possitions (2H and 4H). After messing with it I can only get it to go into 4H if I lock the front air locker, arb if it matters...

Looking at a 90 xj with a 5speed transmission, I am fairly new to the jeep world and do not know how well the standard 5-speed holds up. Any pros and cons of the manual over the auto?

This is what i am hoping for I know I can get a t-case from the pull and save for under 100 bucks and then get the slip yoke eliminator ect to fix it correctly... the lady selling it swears her mechanic said the t-case is fine but I figured it should drive the front wheels in 4H the same as it...

The output shaft has broken off due to a lift and no slip yoke eliminator, Its not mine but thinking of buying it. The jeep will only move in 4L not 4H, is this normal or is there more wrong with the transfer case than meets the eye?

Ever since I picked up this xj, its a 90, it has had a rubbing noise comming from the front right. It starts around 10mph and increases with speed. the wheel bearing seems ok, as does the brake rotor and the pads. It quiets down while driving through a sweeping right hand corner. Any ideas...
