    Tech 4

Just wondering if anyone knows right off the top of their head, the cherokee's had a 2.5 four cylinder in them (tech 4) would a 1989 chevy s-10 2.5 be a direct bolt up in a cherokee that had a 2.5 in it?

    Attn nine inch ford guru's

Already called the bronco guys in our club, none have that. My real question is, what did this axle come out of? I need to know for future preference-wheel cylinders, brake shoes, etc. From your post I'm guessing you read my other post, and yes I'm leaning towards keeping the nine inch now. I...

replacing ball joints d30 spinning help

just thought I would chirp in on this. I've probably pressed in about 200 ball joints, I've been a mechanic for 26 years. 2 weeks ago I went to put 4 new ball joints into my cherokee axle (95-dana 30 axle) I got the old ones out with the press and some work. Had to make a smaller sleeve out of...

    Attn nine inch ford guru's

Need help identifiying what I got in the cherokee for a nine inch. I was going to pull it and go back to a 35, but after numerous mentions in here about how I'd being going backwards, I have second thoughts. Here's what I found on it tonight, I pulled one of the axle shafts, from the flange to...

    Are all 87-89's dana 44's?

 Trying to make your rig bullet proof isn't xj tech:) . Just trying to consider all my options MoFo before I dig in and do all the work. Know anyone that might be looking for a ford nine inch with 4:56 gears and a locker??? I might have one for sell after this weekend. I'm pretty sure it...

    Are all 87-89's dana 44's?

I made a call tonight after this post and checked and there is one at this yard with the 44 in it. I can pick it up for $50, for now, time is now pinched(had another vehicle break down tonight in the cold) so I'm probably going to just drop the dana 35 in tomorrow to get this rig on the road and...

    Are all 87-89's dana 44's?

I stand corrected, scouts have the "retaining plate" style, and this has gotten me home with a broken rear axle shaft once when I was 45 miles away. If I would have had the c-clip style, it would have taken a trailer to get me home. Now, to keep this "XJ" oriented, could you see the plus side of...

    Rpm calculator

what I have is not stock by any means, there is a ford nine inch rear axle in it that was custom made. The front axle tag said it was a 3:54 but once I tore it down I found it to be a 4:56 geared front end. I'm thinking that tomorrow I'm going to drop a stock D35 in the rear that is 3:54 to...

    Are all 87-89's dana 44's?

maybe I'm refering to it wrong, to me , a full floater is a axle, that if you snap a axle shaft, it will stay put and not slide out like the horseshoe clip chevy axles. maybe semi full is the correct wording.

    Are all 87-89's dana 44's?

correct, the scout II, 71 and up had the dana 44 full floaters, 73 and older was a greased rear bearing, 74 and new was 90w lubed, also, a lot of the scout II dana 44 came with a factory trash lock in it, and this carrier will not accept a aussie or lock rite locker.

    Rpm calculator

tried it, it computed to Nan??? I'll try it again later, we're headed to the shop to do some wrenching. I have 31x10.5x15's, at 55 I tach at 2100, just trying to guess what the rear axle is geared at before I tear it out.
