Okay guys.
Did compression test today. Cold, dry.
1: 110
2: 110
3: 120
4: 115
5: 110
6: 121
Notes:
Engine runs cool (new pump, radiator, thermostat)
A recent emissions test showed high NOx
Great fuel milage (18-19mpg highway)
Plugs look great
Has some piston slap on startup
So... the...
Ah, that makes sense. Will check it out! If I recall, I just barely passed emissions on NOX last time as well.
Maybe this video holds a clue. I've never heard a 4.0 sound like this on startup.
Not sure about mileage. It was a junkyard motor I swapped in. They said 90K if I recall, and I put on about 50K since then. It does have piston slap while cold.
I just ordered a bore scope. Maybe I will check compression too. Why do you ask about compression/leakdown?
What da?
Jeep is running like a champ. 17-18mpg. Spark plugs are beautiful. How is this thing making so much soot?
I do have a new O2 sensor I guess I'll toss in.
Alright, I bought a Bosch fuel pump, and a 91'-'93 sending unit from ebay. Can't wait for the gasoline shower.

robably should change my filter too...probably has never been changed...
Wow thanks for the complete run down...
Since installing the parts store sending unit years ago, my gauge has functioned strange. It moves in the correct direction but it does not accurately represent the amount of gas in the tank.
For instance, I will fill up, gauge reads full. Drive 40...
Does anybody know which years the sending units were compatible with the 1991?
I replaced my unit about 6 years ago with something from the parts store (which was supposed to be gtg) and due to different resistance in the design its been reading wrong ever since... Would kinda like to...
I did the standard whoosh-whoosh but wasn't even close.
Measure the temp of your drums after a drive and see how close they are... Maybe you have some magic I dont :gee:
Well as I understand it, this is just a thing that happens with XJ's.
I put in an OME 2" lift about 6 years ago. There's a good 1/2–3/4" difference between L & R as it sits today.
I was thinking about perhaps adding a spacer up front, but then I'd have no solution for the rear.
What...
