Behind stroked, injected SBC's? Anyways, how goes the 383/400 swap? Make any progress? Scrap the idea yet? Still trucking?

    Fastest XJ

I hit exactly 100 mph on a downhill slope somewhere in the Yukon territory coming down the Alcan in exactly this trim.... Matter o' fact, this pic was taken about an hour before that. Well over 8,000lbs of rolling mass. For some reason, I was feeling a little bit too ballsy that day. I'm...

Who's got 8-9" of lift and stock width axles?

8-9" of lift isnt hardly warranted in the case of anything shy of 40's. I'm somewhere around 10" over stock (too high) with my rear axle in the stock position, wheelbase wise, and the front pushed two inches forward. The sheetmetal is trimmed moderately, but only as much as was needed for...

    hp60/coilover swap on the XJ...

No, actually I dont wheel it. Its currently Oregons largest paper weight. But here's a wheeling picture, just because I hate being called out. :D I leave here (Korea) on 10 November, report to some training in Colorado Springs till 7 December, and finally fly over to my folks place to get it...

    16 spline dana 60

Thats not all there is to it. The spindles wont accept that large of a shaft. You'll need to take them to a machine shop and have them bored out to fit the 1.5" 35 Spline shafts.

    real tech does still exist!

"Home built axlehousing" is a little bit deceiving, considering its a Yota axle. Not a whole lot more to building the housing than there would be to building a giant wrap-around diff cover. All the actual tech is in the drop out 3rd. No worries about gear mesh, runout, backlash, bearing caps and...

    Front Coilover mounting Hoop, Pics..wanted.

Ahhh, sorry. My Fox's are 14's. The reasons you are stating for frustrations in trying to accomodate all 16 inches of those shocks' available travel are exactly why I have the 14 inch models. I knew that my mechanical steering would be maxxed at with 14" shocks, and I'd be running into pinion...

    Steering Clunk?!

...dont forget to have a friend turn the wheel to and fro while you sit down in front of the front axle watching. Amazing what you can find when you can actually "see" where the clunk is coming from. Thats the only way I usually ever find any of my odd noises. Like the tie rod hitting the...

    another D60 question

Ha! You know, if youre set on a rear 60.... 1 ton full floaters can be had for about $100 to $150, from what I've seen. Not "free", but certainly not expesive. I even had a bit of trouble getting rid of mine at $100 when I went to a 14 bolt. Bore the spindles and go 35 spline, and you've got a...

Goodyear MTR Swamper Trxus M/T Toyo Open Country M/T BFG M/T Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ ...those would be my vote. I've run BFG a/t and m/t's, a few Swampers, Pro Comp m/t's, Mickey's, and have a good amount of highway shotgun time on others. BFG a/t's are great, but will get you stuck in a hurry...
