    31" tires on stock XJ?

I used a set of 31x10.50 Goodyear Wrangler A/T tires on a 1989 XJ with no lift, and for the most part, I had no rubbing issues. I did remove the bumpstops. I later installed a 2" lift and trimmed the fenders up and moved the flares. Side note - you can trim up and relocate rear flares. I...

    I'm back on the market!!!

AgentXJ203 has returned after a 2-year hiatus from Jeep-land. I sold my 89 XJ in July of 2006, and have been driving around in a Ford Explorer. I need a second car, I have thought long and hard about this, and after my impending move to PA, I will be attempting to purchase a J10 Full-Size...

Rear Fender Trim Write-up, retaining the stock flare (Fender Trim Part 2)

I cut and folded on the rear with my 89 two weeks ago, and it's awesome. I placed mine up higher, required cutting the flare in two, and the front halves are actually mounted to the back doors. I did not re-use the stock hardware, as I secured the flares with screws. The whole thing is in the...

Yeah, we do get hurricanes here. Isabel caused the most damage in 2003, and Camille killed the most in 1969. This area has high forest counts. I wasn't so much referring to actually working IN the hurricane so much as doing damage surveys afterwards and climbing over trees and powerpoles and...

Front Fender Trim Write Up (Retaining the stock flare)

I just trimmed my fenders and moved the stockers up on my 89. Looks awesome, thanks for the guide!

I started my XJ build-up over two years ago with one aim. I am a storm chaser/spotter for a local group & county EMA. I designed my chase truck to be able to get around in Central VA, especially after hurricanes. Here's what I currently have. 1989 Cherokee (was a Laredo originally) 4.0...

CB ANTENA/WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO MOUNT?

Eh, just bite the bullet and go up to your local Motorola dealer and purchase a NMO (or 3/4" hole mount) with cable, and get them to crimp a PL259 onto it. Then go online to AES (Amatuer Electronic Supply) and buy a Larsen NMO-27C CB whip. It is 49" long, base loaded, and simply THE BEST...

    Something went bang--stuck in Utah

Unless I am mistaken, what you have described was maybe some form of predetonation, followed by a head gasket failure. Anyone else?

    Cruise Control

I have an 89 XJ with 4.0L 6, AW4, NP242, and it has cruise controls on the signal stalk. I do have a yellow box under the dash. My cruise has not worked since I've owned the truck (Sept 2003). Can someone supply me with a schematic of the wiring for the CC and the location of the remote fuse...

    242 input leak and gasket

You did not have to cut your exhaust in half. You could have unbolted it from the head, and unbolted the rear and detached the hanger. After this, the exhaust flange can be "gently manipulated" (kicked violently) towards the rear of the Jeep, freeing it. I just dropped my TC and AW4 in March...

    242 input leak and gasket

I just replaced my AW4 and took care of some leakage problems with my NP242 also. The seals should tap in with a hammer and a long block of wood. Although I'm not certain, I believe the TC and the trans share fluid. This is at least what the seal pattern and configuration would lead me to...

    CB Radio

If you mount the bracket to the floor instead of the console itself, you will have no holes visible when you take the equipment out. Use self-tapping 3/8" head bolts.
