I'm no mechanic. My 99 has a manual transmission. Sometimes when I shift into reverse I hear a grinding sound, like gears grinding. It sort of slows down untill it drops into gear. Is this a problem? How do I fix it or should I have a tranny shop look into it? Thanks! Adam

I've just replaced all those pieces, in an attempt to fix my heat... they should be fine. I'm going to try an burp the system and see what happens. I'm sure it's just air.

Yeah, I put the hose back on there. I'm not leaking coolant anywhere... I've probably warmed it up and shut it off about a half a dozen times since then. It's a 99, by the way, Just to clarify which cooling system I'm talking about.

The other day I pulled the lower heater off the heater core. I heard some suction and coolant draining from somewhere in side the engine block. I put the hose back on and now it seems to run about 10-15 degrees hotter than usual. Did I create an air bubble in the system or something? Please...

I had my water pump replaced about six months ago. I've heard that there are two diffrent kinds of water pumps for the xj, two diffrent flow directions. Is this true? If I have the wrong one would it explain why I have no heat and my jeep runs about 10-15 warmer than usual? It only a 99 but...

I'm about to order RE 3.5 inch super ride with full leaf packs. Should I grab some axle shims while I'm at it? Won't I need them anyway to prevent vibes? What degree shim should I get if so? Thanks! Adam

I have a 99 cherokee, I have no heat. Really tired of being cold. I think my temp control valve or blendoor is stuck... when I turn my temprature dial from hot to cold and vice versa I hear something rubbing or scratching (or clunking). Does anybody know where about this little temp door is...

it not the cooling system, core's gettin plenty of coolant...i don't have a water control valve, its a 99... I'm sure it's something under the dash..

does anybody have a heater box diagram? I have no heat in my 99, dosen't seem to be the cooling system, as I've tried everything as far as it goes. I do heat heat for a second when I first flip it on, but it goes cold so I'm leaning toward vaccum or blendoor or something under the dash...

Check the shifter mount. If you lie on your back under the jeep with the top of you head facing the front of the jeep, reach around the tranny to the shifter, you might be able to turn the bolts that hold the shifter down. Thats where my leak came from. I had to go at it from under the center...
