Need help finding gears?

It's because you're posting new threads everyday about basic information that could be found if you put forth the effort to search for it. Stop expecting people to hold your hand and tell you exactly what you need. You just need to SEARCH SEARCH SEARCH. But I'd imagine you're in high school and this new entitlement generation thinks the legwork should be done for them. /rant

I don't necessarily expect people to do everything for me, I've done a Ton or research but I want to be 100% sure before I spend my hard earned money on gears that could be wrong then I'm screwed.

Then if you're serious about buying, call a vendor from HERE and talk to a tech, they'll get you setup correctly. Don't come here and expect all these answers and then go to ebay or some other discount place and buy them, that's when you screw yourself.

Now would be a good time to just sit back and not fuel this nick. Be kind an you'll get better answers on here. Have a good day and let things go

If you ask questions like you do, you clearly aren't doing any research. That is why you get the responses you get. If you are confused about spline count for an 8.25 then you should be ordering gears yourself. You should be paying someone to buy and install them for you. Then you don't have to ask dumb questions. Honestly your track record of poor decisions and noob questions speaks for itself.

Go in the FAQ section and read every thread tip to tail. Over half the questions you ask will be answered in some shape or form in there.

Ok thanks, so here it says pinion spline count: 27
Will it still work for me?

Pinion spline count, not axle spline count

27 vs 29 spline 8.25's refer to the axle not the pinion

LOL this guy is trolling hard guys Cmon dont give him the time of day. No would purposely ask us about axle shaft spline count a on 8.25" ring gear axle , no one is that damn stupid. This reminds me ala bimmerjeeper.

We're getting into stupid territory here... Is more like it.

Didn't you know? Naxja is the new jeep forum, helping absolute newbs find gears since 2016!

Hell the whole reason I joined this forum was to ask questions and read about other jeep problems. My bad for using this forum the way it supposed to be used…

That's the problem, you're not using it the way it's supposed to be used, that's what we're trying to tell you. You're clearly not reading or searching. Take the advice you've been given...

I don't know why you think Motive Gears are not good or that it's what every site lists. There are a bunch of companies who make 4.56 for the 8.25. At this point my advise is to call a vendor and if you have any more questions come back here and ask. I'm surprised you are not asking about setup kits.

Just talked to one and figured everything out, I appreciate it, guys. I'm probably going to pick up all the bearings and shims from RC, They sell a whole kit.

You going to install them yourself? This isn't quite the same as a roof rack out of electrical conduit.

Last set of specs I saw on your Jeep was 3 inches of lift. Why do you want to go as low as 4.56 gears? Find a 4 cylinder XJ, grab the 4.10 front, pull an 8.8 from an Explorer - heck get one with LSD - and have someone weld the brackets on. Get a couple junkyard axles and pay for some fab work and you are geared 4.10 with traction aid for $300-350 and you don't have to buy gears or try to set them up. More than adequate for your Jeep.

It's at about 5" in the front 4.5" in rear now, can't really tell with the flares and 33s and I have thought about swapping axles with some thing, I've got the fab and welding skills, I'd love to do a swap bc it would probably be the same amount of work or less( what I mean by work is all the measurements involved with regearing. Its easy to just throw new gears in) I just don't want to loose my limited slip in the rear! And I don't want to deal with different bolt patterns.

Explorer and XJ have same bolt pattern. Explorer is also the same width and it has disk brakes. And they are cheap in junkyards. And most have a factory limited slip installed. That is why they are such a popular swap.
