How can I hook up an efan timer on a 2001?

I had the same problem with mine trying to get three minutes or so.
Set the jumper from minutes to seconds when adjusting the timer so you do not have to wait a few minutes every time you try to adjust the run time.

The timer does cure the hot soak problem. We just got back from a week in Death Valley and the timer stops the problem from occurring when I remember to use it.
Pushing the button becomes more automatic as the weather gets hotter.

You mean change the jumper to seconds and then back to minutes and adjust? Does this reset it or something?

They've been trying to figure out how to set that up... with no success as far as I know. Something about the triggering options the timer includes.

Yeah we tried that already. It would kick on after shut down but the fan runs full time while the motor runs. I actually don't have any problems remembering to push the button cuz I've dealt with this annoying misfire everytime i drove for the past two years. Something I can't forget lol.

The timer jumper changes the time, from seconds to minutes, that the timer operates.

[FONT=&quot]For example if it run 5 seconds, with the jumper set to seconds, it will run about 5 minutes, with the jumper in the minute position.
When setting it up, leave the jumper in the second position until you get around 3 seconds and then change it to minutes.

Aye, will try it.

If remembering to hit the button is a problem, You could set the up the timer to activate automatically when you turn off the ignition.

I think my "Plan C" wiring diagram should work for ignition-off activation. So far as I know, nobody has tried it yet to confirm.

PLAN C - Ignition Activated Fan Delay Timer

I received my new delay timer from Brad at ELK and installed it today. I dialed in the timer to 2.5 minutes and it works perfectly. The other time I had would not set on any time between 50 seconds and 4.5 minutes. Brad said I could send it back if I wanted to and I will do that next time I go to the Post Office.

But so far, so good. Not a single misfire incident since this fix.

A Little update!

I have been playing with the amount of time I let the E fan run after shutdown, I find that running the fan for as little as 2 minutes will prevent the heat soak problem.
I deliberately ran it very hard on the beach last week when it was hot out (Around 90deg) then shut it down, Ran the fan for 2 minutes, Restarted it 5 minutes after fan shut down & NO HEAT SOAK.
In the past if I did this the jeep would always stumble & throw a misfire code. I am going to leave it set for 3 minutes and call it done for now.

Next thing I would like to do see if I can find a replacement for the stock
E fan that moves as much air but draws less current, May be find a fan that is a little bit quieter also!

FFdynamics also has 10" fans for $75 shipped. I'm considering both but not sure which one to buy yet. Summit racing has quite a few as well.

So, has anyone figured out which fuse to tap into? I've been following this and I'm pretty sure that wasn't covered. I know they need to be constant hot but beyond that I'm not sure.

PS - where do I find a list of what fuse does what? not listed in the owners manual, and could not find it in the Factory manual.

You need a multi-meter to figure it out. It's rather simple really. Test the fuses while the ignition is off and the ones with 12v's are the hot ones. There's two metal tabs on top of a fuse for testing with a Multi-Meter.

Well, I got my install done....with a few glitches. This is the exact same install using the Elk960 timer/relay. Bosch relay with a momentary push button for the trigger.

I caught a few sparks while fishing wires through the bulkhead. Finished the install this morning and I'm throwing a few codes, Transmission range module, O2 circuit fault and fan relay circuit fault....the AC also cut out. When I unplug the timer power to the fan the code goes away. Pluged in code reappears. I figure a diode will cure that....but which one? Any ideas?

As for the trans range module/O2 sensor problem with AC non functional.....???? any ideas?

But the fan timer works perfectly!

Congrats on the fan.

Not sure what you did when you "caught a few sparks".
Always disconnect the battery when working on the electrical....but guess you know that now.

I have had my share of electrical plug problems with the XJ., leading to CEL codes. You may have bumped or distrurbed one of the plugs under the dash or hood.
Go through and make sure every plug is pushed together tight.
Might be a good time to open all the plugs and treat them with a little dielectric grease.

I was fishing a couple of wires through the bulkhead with a piece of bailing wire. I caught the tail end on battrey and had a nice little spark show.

Now I get the following codes

P1491 - Radiator fan Control Relay Circuit
PO130 - 1/1 O2 Sensor heater Circuit
PO136 - 1/2 O2 Sensor Heater Curcuit
PO705 - Trans Range Sensor Malfunction

Think I should start a new thread?

Disconnect the battery, Let it sit for 20Minutes, Cross fingers & reconnect.

Hi I'm am doing this upgrade this week as I too am sick of this misfire I also just purchased the blue sea fuse pannel and gonna rewire all of my acceorys to this to remove all of the online fuses and birdsnest from my battery can I tie this timer to this fuse pannel? Also with using plane B with the switch means I can turn the fan on for the set time whenever I please. Is that correct? And the led goes from fan motor hot to a ground and that's it is that correct? Thanks for any help and al of u to make this Easier to understand can't wait to test it out and have fun doing the install as well thanks to all again!
