FWIW,
unless you've got the tools to set up gears, leave the carrier alone.
The 8.25 uses a crush collar that is a one time use item. Should you opt to replace the pinion seal be very care and ensure you don't over tighten the nut when you reassemble it.
You can pull the alxle shafts and replace the outer bearings and seals, and replace the the brakes....that's about it.
If you can, convert to disc brakes before you install the axle.
If you've got a Limited Slip:
Don't forget to add a tube of friction modifier to your new oil.
The discs in a limited slip can be replaced without pulling the carrier, just remembe to soak them in fresh gear oil for a couple hours before installing them.
