NP231 to NP242

Hi

01) Would it be possible to change from transfer 231 to 242?
02) Is there a rebuild kit awailable for 231 to 242 Transfer case?

How many splines do I have as output from the AX15?



My set up today is:

XJ 1997Sport - 4,0L
AX 15 manual Transmission
NP231 Transfer
Rear axle: Chrysler 8,25.

2. Yes, there are rebuild kits out there, many that involve a thicker/stronger chain

IIRC, the AX15 is a 23 spline as well as the 242's. The 231 were either 21 spline or 23 spline dependant on what year you got it out of. I believe that it was around 91 when the 231 went to 23 spline.
