im Ian, i live in north texas. not much for sand or dunes, but we make it work.

as for the jeep it started as this
all stock 91 2dr.

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t84/askthatninja/jeep/IMAGE_027.jpg

then this
http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t84/askthatninja/jeep/IMAGE_040.jpg
http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t84/askthatninja/jeep/IMAGE_041.jpg

then all the outcome turned into this

its mainly was a trail rig, but with some new tires, bumpstops, fine tuning, and other little things. it will make a very strong DD/do it all rig.

but mainly dd/prerunner

New to the jeepspeed thing, but loving it. I started out building the xj for mud and trails and well idk i am just heading in a different direction. I ride the Silver Lake dunes all the time and love going fast so now i am here. And my xj is a DD so i really want a better ride as well.

this is the jeep about 2 weekends ago
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r431/kmanxj5050/opener%2009/silverlakeopeningweekend09021.jpg

It curently has a 4.5" full pack rusty's lift, with homemade 2" spacers up front and rusty's 6.5" fixed LCA's and lengthened stock uppers (going to be getting adjustables from iron man), and 2" blocks in the rear (part of the trail/mud thing i am going to be getting adjustable shackles from ironman as soon as he gets them made)

I have the rusty's 4.5" shocks in the front and did in the back until the weekend of the pics. I bent and broke both rear dog bone mounts. And i just ordered some RC Nitro 9000's for the rear. (i know cheep junk, but i am 20 and am a full time student, and they are better than nothing)

I am going to be getting a set of used RE DB's off of another NAXJA member in the next few weeks. And this summer i plan on getting some bilstien 5150's for the front. I have a long way to go and wont probably ever be out in cali in the desert but live only an hour away from the dunes so i am there all the time:)

Well thats it for now.

What are you guys at 6 to 6.5" of lift running in the rear for bumpstops? mine are just stock.

thanks fellas

now i gotta go get a mafia number

Im 19, live in Indiana, going to Vincennes University for Tool & Die, and CNC Programming. My Jeep is proudly my first vehicle and has been being built for 5 years now. Now sits with 6" RK springs, 4.88 gears, 8.8 rear, 35" BFGs. All body work, installs, and tube work done at home.

got any closeups of your rear fenders? how are they mounted?

looking good :D

I cut out the rear quarters and fender wells and a good section of the floor around the fender wells. I made custom wheel tubs, the fiberglass is held on with 3M Panel Adhesive, I used sheet metal screws every 2 inchs to hold the fiberglass to the body until it cured, then took out the screws and used filler to fill holes and blend in the fiberglass to the real body. I guess I need to do a buildup thread haha. Heres some pix...

Well thought I would post up here finally.
Me I'm Baja Curt. I live in the city of Orange in Orange County, CA.
I'm a member of Regulators Racing, winners of SCORE class 8 season for 2008.

Desert racing is my passion. And being single and a sales rep gives me the freedom to attend lot's of races :)
I've been to 7 this year (well if you include Dec 31)
I always bring my camera and sometimes am in the right spot at the right time. (right CrazyJim)

My XJ is my daily driver and like I said I'm a sales rep so my vehicle is my livelihood. But that doesn't mean I don't go out and run the heck out of it.
I just know when to baby it and when to get on it (MOST of the time LOL)
Right now I have a 3.5 RE lift with 33" BFG AT and the RE monotube shocks. The 3.5 RE lift and monotube shocks are a great setup for the street but too soft for the go fast stuff.
So by Friday I'll have Deaver coils, air bumps, limit straps, drop brackets and Bilstein 7100 remote res shocks in the front and JKS boomerang shackles in the rear.
Next on the list are Deaver leafs and Bilstein 7100 shocks for the rear.
I already have the shocks just saving $$$ for the Deaver leafs.
Then it will be time to cut some holes for the shocks and maybe cage the XJ.
Let's see how long this thing remains my DD ;)

Anyways here are a couple pics of the Baja XJ and I'll post up some more when the front end is done.
Hope to see you at the next race!!!

Lookin' forward to seeing her in her go fast dress Curt!

Well she's only half dressed at this point cause I still need to do her rear end.
But here is how her front looks now.
I can't wait to take her out, play a little rough with her and get her all dusty :D

Nice to meet everyone. I wanted to introduce my Jeep to Naxja.

I just bought this a few weeks ago after borrowing a frined's TJ for our night session up Main Divide Rode. I decided I needed and XJ of my own, so I bought a 98 Cherokee Sport in the beginning of May.

It was bone stock, but I have added a few things...

1998 Cherokee Sport

RE 3.5" Super Flex Lift
Currie/JKS Shackles
3/4" Coil Spacers
Fox 2.0 Pro Shocks with Remote Resevoirs
32"x11.5"x15" Goodyear MTR Kevlars
Detroit Locker
Superior 30 Spline Axles
Cat Back MagnaFlow 2.5" Exhaust
K&N Air Filter
7" Pro Comp Lights on Bumper

Here's a picture:
http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n270/dabgpimp/P6060066.jpg
These pictures were taken at Cleghorn on it's 2nd trip out, the coil spacers, wheel spacers, and shackles have not been installed yet.

It was about time I do this...

My name is Justin, and I am from the mean streets of Yorba Linda. I bought by Jeep in May and have caught the "offroad bug." I can't stop...

My name is Mark. I am part of the Jeepspeed 1717 team.

We are sponsored by:
4 Wheel Parts
Goodyear
Bilstein
Rubicon Express
Thunder Express Trucking
T & J's Performance Center

I co-drive, handle all the wiring, EFI setup and tuning, and wrench on it. I also handle all the vendor/sponsor relations and write most of the race reports. I've even co-driven with Tom from T&J's!

Our team currently holds the record for the most consecutive finishes in Jeepspeed - sitting at 19 races right now. Our current car was one of the first Jeepspeed racers ever built, and it won the first JS event. It was originally built and owned by Rubicon Express.

We are working on a new car for next year. These unibody station wagons can only take so much before they start coming apart. We are going to stick with our current Rubicon Express 5.5" short arm kit and 2.5" Bilsteins as that is a proven combination and has put us in the winners circle and on the podium many times. I'll try to get some build pics posted as we progress.

Thanks!

Great thread. It has contributed to my illness. I have a 97 XJ set up for trail duty and daily driving. In part to my military experience in the desert and to this thread I am now making the transformation to prerunner hybrid. I live in the flat part of VA but I am retired and have a rv so I plan on visiting the desert to play and watch races. So here is what I have.
97 XJ
5.5 RE long arms soon to be with deaver springs
4.0 with every possible bolt on
aw 4 with ra designs shifters
231 with sye
d 30 with truss, alloys, ARB and 4.56
8.25 alloys, arb and 4.56
fox 2.0 res with c/a 12 in travel f/r
radflo 3in air bumps f/r, t&j mounts
I am in the frame reinforcing stage so I had to buck up and pay to be able to communicate on here. Not to many prerunners on VA's eastern shore...

Time for a formal introduction I suppose. I'm one of the guys going for the all-around wheeling rig, but I prefer go-fast to crawling. I liked this concept (http://www.jpmagazine.com/techarticles/53579_jeep_cherokee_comanche_build/index.html)...

Vehicle Stats:
- Manual (NV3550) 2000 Forest Service XJ, 4x4
- Front Fox 2.0 remote reservoir 14" travel coilovers w/ Engine cage & custom bumper tie-in
- Rear 4.5" RE Super-Flex leaf pack w/ Add-a-leaf and extended shackles, boxed/reinforced leaf mount points
- Rear Fox 2.0 remote reservoir racing shocks, 2" air bumptops
- Currie shaved and Jeepspeed reinforced High-Pinion Ford 9" w/ ARB and Warn hubs front axle, chromoly shafts, drilled and slotted rotors, reinforced LCA mounts
- Currie trussed Ford 9" w/ Detroit rear axle, chromoly shafts, reinforced control arm mounts, custom housing cooling fins
- TnT Long-Arms & belly/transfer case skid
- Over-the-knuckle 1-ton steering, Rusty's steering box brace, custom track bar brace/crossmember, Currie Anti-Rock sway bar
- JB Conversions Heavy Duty NP231 w/ integrated super-short SYE
- Custom removable rocker guards, feet welded to TnT-style unibody frame stiffeners
- 35x12.50 ProComp Xtreme AT tires on 15x8 Aluminum Ion wheels
- The longest SS brake lines RE offers for XJ's front and rear
- Bushwacker flares
- H4 light conversion w/ IPF fatboy bulbs
- Rusty's 1" throttle body spacer, K&N 6x9 cone air filter, CSF 3-core radiator
- Plenty more planned... cage, rear bumper, maybe some ORI struts down the line...

Having some fun today:

Hey guys,
I have been on here for a few months now just reading after i just got my last 1998 Cherokee 2wd 4.0l for $800 with a RE 4.5 lift and a locker out back on 32s. When i got it it had a broken leafspring center pin, smashed front bumper and fender and broken steering, stupid kid driving drunk hit a parked car This cherokee will by my 11 cherokee since i was 16 till now (23). Most have been parts jeeps or rock crawlers but never a baja jeep. So I am excited to do something new. I didnt want to post up till i had some stuff done and it would be something worth looking at. Right now its kinda in poser mode, looks ready to mash but still needs alot. Just finished the front and rear bumpers and bought the fenders from TandJ last weekend. Thanks.

Hey, my name's Joe, 19. In between Merced and Fresno in CA. This is my XJ, my very first vehicle. Please bare with me its still relatively stock an I have a very long way to go with it but I really want to make it into a beast with alot of muscle that can hold its own in the dunes and the streets, as well as blast through the dirt backroads! Started as a $500 "deal". Approx. $3500 later it looks like I'm gonna have myself a solid rig :banghead: Just stuborn like that I guess. No flares, no rear sway bar (debating reinstall for better handling)...http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-sf2p/v289/118/123/1052538219/n1052538219_30085453_4550.jpg (http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=31124734&id=1052538219)

Hacked the muffler off LOVED the sound! Thinkin about a quick on/off muffler to make it more pass.-friendly. Cut the fenders, Recently removed carpet (had a small pool in it...) Removable front doors now, rears someday....

http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs060.ash2/36338_1449924762096_1052538219_31285606_5899881_n. jpg (http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=31523820&id=1052538219)

Working on custom half/hybrid/wtf doors lol I have a rear hatch to use with these during summer months for an "open" feeling...and yes I'm going to do the squirt gun mod too. Tailgaters beware!!!

http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs773.snc4/67362_1547092271223_1052538219_31523820_4934663_n. jpg (http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=31523823&id=1052538219)

I'm currently wrapping up rebuilding the engine, quite an experience :repair: Hopefully start it tomorrow afternoon!

Long term goals: Prerunner suspension goodies, D44's (60's maybe? never know) Cage it, chop it, 5.0 stroker with turbocharger....NOW...In reality? lol well, I plan on getting as close to that as life allows me to. Anything to make it stronger, lighter, and more powerful!

Greetings to all!! My name is Tony, I am am a 36 year old nuclear power worker that just moved to the Phoenix are from North Carolina. I had a 90 XJ back in the day, then built a few CJ/YJ/TJ for the slow mountain crawling of Washington state, upstate New York, and North Carolina. Now I am thinking the slow thing was fun but I want to try the fast thing since there is much more oppertunity for it here in Arizona. We unloaded all of our Jeeps and went the Mustang route for the last few years, but now it's time to go back home to the Jeep. I dont have any pics to throw up yet as I have not purchased my start yet, but am starting the planning stage with a built commencing here at the end of February (dont worry, I will start a build thread and keep you all posted on my slow as molaasses build).

Since I am starting from scratch and taking my first foray into foing faster than 5 mph, I will let you know what I am looking for and stay tuned for any helpfull info. So here are my current goals:

Cost effective (have to be able to build the wife's jeep alongside)
Daily driver (15 mile straight road or desert to the plant)
Able to do handle the speed (not talking race trim here)
Still able to bring my kids (driving or riding)
Able to do some trail riding (family loves wheeling, this will be the first tim we dont have 2 purpose built trail rigs)
Keep it ugly enough the wife wont steal it from me (I have had a couple Jeeps end up with plates that read "herjp")
Did I mention be able to run the desert at a decent pace (Sick dog's rig in his 2009 vids as inspiration)

I am sure I will have tons of questions and be on the lookout for input as this is my first time trying to go fast. I take it a 4-1 transfer case is not what I will be shopping for this time.

As I mentioned, I don't even have the start yet, so any recomendations as to where to start, year, trim etc. is much appreciated.

Thanks, and I look forward to the advise (and of course friendly bashing) from all.

Tony

greetings! i'm a 25-year old female named Doré (pronounced door-RAY),

and this is the love of my life, "CLIFFORD"
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/184081_199571576767825_101752549883062_541258_7999 460_n.jpg

Clifford is the first and only vehicle i've ever owned, a dramatic 7-year-long love affair and due to life's little "surprises", financial setbacks, and being a female (lacking know-how, tools and/or strength to work on it myself) it's taken this long to only get this far (above photo was taken on Monday, right after i got the new bumper installed). with that said, this is what i've got so far:

4" Fabtech suspension lift (installed in 2004 and needs replacing badly... i've had my eye on the Full-Traction 6")
31" all-terrains wrapped around black steel Cragar RockCrawler wheels
Rusty's exhaust kit: CherryBomb Pro cat-back exhaust, 1" throttle body spacer and K&N 6x9 cone intake
SatoFab front bumper
and other little cosmetic whozits and whatsits. ;)

as of now, i'm dead-set on racing in JeepSpeed within the next year or two. i've been following JeepSpeed since i first found out about it and this forum around 5 years ago. however, i recently lost my mechanic (aka broke up with the ex-boyfriend), and i'm looking for JS people to help me with advice, wrenching, social networking, etc. but i'm also trying to absorb as much as possible through the forums!

anywho, i plan on learning a lot from everyone here in the upcoming months, and hopefully meeting some of you in person, so i wanted to formally introduce myself. ;)

haha, well if i am accepting any applications in the future i'll be sure to send a PM. ;) the "ex" is also a member of NAXJA, and the JeepSpeed section at that (building on a 3700 MJ). but i seriously doubt he'll ever be looking in this thread.

Be sure to make it to the MORE Powder Puff race October 15th. There should be at least 2 all-girl Jeepspeed teams, maybe more. I know both groups and they are pretty approachable.
