I work at a ford dealer and our motorcraft/ford mercon says it meets dex3 requirments, can I use this in AW4? Also how much needs to go in after a drain and fill. And can I use this fluid in my 231?

here is the specs off the website

MERCONŽ Multi-Purpose Automatic Transmission Fluid
- An approved MERCONŽ and DEXRONŽ III fluid
- Replaces type "H" and Type "CJ" fluids
- Provides rust, corrosion and anti-wear protection
- Controls deposit formation (varnish and sludge)
- Resists oxidation and retains desirable friction characteristics
- Contains an anti-foaming additives
- Maintains proper viscosity at extreme operating temperatures
- Recommended for use in automatic transmissions, power steering units, manual transmissions and hydraulic systems requiring any of the following fluids:
MERCONŽ
DEXRONŽ-II
DEXRONŽ
Allison C-4

The label on the bottle I have here says "Mercon also meets Dexron III, approved for H specification. Automatic transmission fluid."

You should be able to use that. It's the "ATF +3/+4" that you don't want to use. DexronII/III spec fluid will be just fine - all my AW4's, NP231's, and NP242's get a steady diet of that...
