engine runs rough then dies

I have a 90 xj 4.0 : when i start my jeep it was running rough so after i noticed that i figured i would let anyfuel cycle thorugh thinking that might do something and no it didnt so then i revved it up to about 3k for 10 sec or so le off and it all died i read other forums and found people saying a map sensor but idk what or where it is, any help with what/where the map sensor is would be appreciated and just for further info i previously cleaned the throttle body and took out the sensors that were in there and could of possibly damaged them but again idk thank you

I just went through similar issues, while I doubt your outcome will be the same look through my thread. there is some very good tech on this kind of problem. print out the renix 4.0 BIBLE and go through it, I can gaurantee you can diagnose your problem with it.
