Swapping a 231 into my 89 xj (currently has a 242) will the speedo gear swap over? look the same. Thanks!

Guess I'll just try when I swap it, always got the gps as a temporary measure!
you have both cases and they look the same? if they look the same, wouldnt they be interchangable? if you think there are small diffences between the 2, measure them with dial calipers.

If the stem length is the same it'll work. Now, it having the correct tooth count for your gearing/tire size is another issue.
