I was installing my new spicer upper ball joints yesterday and while pressing them in I didn't notice that one of the studs was slightly making contact with the press adapter.
This caused the stud to be pushed up into the ball joint about 1/2" and made grease come out of the grease nipple.
It didn't deform the joint itself......nor does it have any play.
I got the stud to drop down to where it is supposed to be easily when I mocked the knuckle up and twisted the nut on.
I've heard that the plastic bushing can be ruined when the stud is pushed into a ball joint and wonder how I would tell??Play in the stud?
