Ever since i bought my jeep with 149k miles on, and the emissions maintenance light has always been on, and i know it is suppose to come on at 82500 for the o2 sensor to be replaced but mine is still on so i covered with a piece of electrical tape, but i heard that it will not go off after you replace the o2 sensor and that you actually have to unplug it or something to get it to go off?

There is a "emissions maintenance" timer under the dash on the drivers side that needs to be unplugged(or replaced) to get the light to go out. Sorry, I don't have a pic. of the timer.

its a clear plastic box under the dash below the steering column. i would just unplug it and the light will go out. it might even be a discontinued part by now so i wouldnt even bother replacing
