If you look at the front side of the door jamb, you'll see a pin with a flat head and a hex around the base. This is your door jamb switch, and it's what closes to turn the lamp on when you open the door.
Start here. It's a fairly common part, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding it (it's either a GM - early - or a Chrysler - late - part.)
