Open hood....without cabin latch?

On the (rusty) '98 XJ, I was opening the hood with the pull latch in by the drivers door and it broke off. The wire connecting the handle to the under-hood machanism was wear and frayed...

How can I open the hood?

you have to remove the headlight bucket...do a quick search on this,it has been covered.

Mine broke a cpl weeks ago... I did hood pins... no more aggravation

got a write up on that? :eyes: was thinkin of doin the same thing to my 89. if/when i get to it i want to remove all that crap from the hood & rest of the jeep.

01din, if there is any of the pull wire still in the cab get a good pair of vice-grips. then either replace the whole thing or do the hood pin thing :eeks1:
