Does the 97 have the function where you turn the key 3 times to display the fault codes like the older ones?

or is it only obd to get the codes?

thanks

I'd say probably not. Doesn't work on my '98.

Yes, but it's 5 times.
Make sure you reset your trip meter to 0 before doing it though.

Huh? I've never heard of that method...can you explain a little bit more and did it work on yours? What year is yours?

Mines a 97. With the trip meter set to 000.0 you turn the ignition from off to on 5 times and leave it in the on position. Watch the trip meter and the check engine light (CHL). The CHL will flash the code and the it will also be displayed in the trip meter.

Are you starting the engine each time? You should be going from off to on only.

it works on my 97 .

This seems to work on some '97s but not others. Current suspicion is that some software revisions allow it to be done while others don't.

While viewing the odo (not trip. And I didn't have to reset my trip, either) turn your key on-off, on-off, on-off, on within 5 seconds.. You will need to hold the key release button to get the full on-off sequence. Also, make sure you turn the key untill the acc come on each time. I just did this 2 days ago on my '97SE. Also, my FSM doesn't say there is any difference between '97 models for this procedure.

Nevermind, just noticed the original post was from Aug last year.
