My '97 key fob is messed up.
I put in a new battery and it worked a few times.
I take it apart and it works a few times, then stops working.
Same story over and over, but mostly it doesn't work.
I see that there is almost nothing in the key fob itself when I took it apart.
There are 2 little switches in there for the 2 buttons.
Can these little switches wear out?
What is the easiest way to fix this or is it better to just buy a new FOB?
Lastly, has anyone taken a "newer" remote out of a newer XJ with the Peanut style FOB and made it work with a '97 that has the square key fob?
The peanut style sure looks better and stronger. Obviously a newer and better design.
Appreciate any comments.
