A very simple yes or no question

Yes, once you get it set up on your rig you will have to tune it. It's not that hard to do, just fiddle with the screw on top of the antenna until your SWR meter is as low as you can get it.

Thanks for the info my man.

If you just want it to work, simple answer is No.
If you want it to work WELL, simple answer is Yes.:sunshine:

^^ Chances are w/o tuning it it will not work well, and can burn up your radio.

Yes, you need to tune it.

SWR needs to be below 2:1 but ideally below 1.5:1

When I installed my 4' stix, it read 1.6 on channel 40 and more or less flatline on channel 1. Done. No adjustment required. I got lucky. Set-ups will vary, but the system should be optimized by adjusting for the best SWR you can get.

Ditto.

Mine didn't need to be adjusted.

Go to the Firestik website www.firestik.com and read the TECH and FAQ pages. You will find answers to all your tune-up and antenna mounting questions.
