Oil pan leak quick fix?

My oil pan leaks from the drivers side front corner. I also notice a little gap between the block and pan, yet all the bolts are tighened to spec. Any quick fixes to seal this up, since the WHOLE pan gasket isnt shot, I dont feel like removing the whole pan just to fix a tiny leak...

Any ideas? Like a bead of RTV in that space, or something else?

Drain oil, Clean area and JB weld the area. Easily chips away if you ever drop the pan. Applied it to my oil pan (hit a pot hole and rock punctured it) on my escort 3 years ago and havnt had any problems with it yet.

You sir are my hero. :yelclap:

Thanks for the tip. Im getting this done ASAP.

Maybe it is just me, but after breaking the main journals on a 327 and a 350 I'm a little concerned about oil and pressure. (I know it was the foot pressure that caused the problems).

I'd have to reseach it for the XJ, but off the top of my head I might fix it temp with some sort of putty described above, but very soon I would get a less flexiable cover and replace the bent one.

If you bent it once (rock or something) you'll bend it again. Skid plate.

It could have been bent during work done by the PO. I've removed "first seals" on a couple of oil sumps on XJs, and they're a right pain in the arse - both times, I've had to flip the pan over and straighten out the rails with some cautious hammer-and-drift work.

People tend to start at the corners when prying, so having a corner prised up makes sense.

Have the same problem on a reman motor I just installed corner of pan leaking gonna try the jb weld trick
