i just had my water pump replaced at the dealer and they didn't add any water pump lubricant and said it wasn't necessary. it's been 40 years probably since the last time i replaced one and back then we always added water pump lubricant. is it not necessary anymore?

I never heard of water pump lubricant. They dont need it now.

It is still REQUIRED.

they do make water wetter that lubricates but also lowers coolant temp. redline makes it.

In the past I've used it as a follow-up to chemical flushing. It's probably over-kill as like the others have mentioned, it is also in the anti-freeze.
