will the steering box from a 79 cherokee work in my 91?

My first inclination would be No, but I could be wrong. I think the Saginaw box "went Metric" around 1983 or so, and the XJ always had a Metric Saginaw box and pump.
I could be wrong. Check the mounting pattern (probably didn't change anyhow) and the input splines (where it connects to the column extension shaft.) If the length of the Pitman arm is the same, no need to change it.
Let me know, would you? I've been working on axles of late, so I've honestly not gotten into figuring things like that out just yet.

I would also say no it wouldnt work due to the metric issue. But i would also be curious to see if it can work.
