I believe it does. The front of the truck (cab and engine area) is unibody like the xj while the back of the truck is a traditional bed on frame. IIRC the back frame section that the bed bolts onto is part of the "frame" that is under the cab. I'm not 100% sure on that though.

either 6 or 8 bolts. I can't remember. but, the gas tank is hung from the bed so it has to come out first...
 
I have been told that its easier to change the gas tank if the bed is removed first; which would lead me to believe that the tank is not bolted to the bed. I can't go look at mine right now cause the son-in-law has it.......
 
The Tank is mounted to the bed, so if you have to remove the bed the tank has to be dropped as stated before.
