231 shouldn't be behind an auto. It should be a 242. Chime in if I'm mistaken. But a 231 from behind a AX-15 which would be the case would work if you swaped out input shafts. The BA-10 has a 21 spline shaft, where the AX-15 has a 23 spline shaft. But if permisable I would rather just see you upgrade to a Ax-15/231 combo. Better to do it now then to wait for the Puke to :explosion .
A 231 could be found behind a auto. A 90 should have a AX-15 not a BA-10. I dont know why someone would swap that in. If it is a BA-10 you need a 21 spline.
check the tranny if it bolts down the middle long ways then it's a ba-10 and check for id tag on tcase on the back to make sure it's a 231, better yet you have full time 4x4?
