Trans swap

Will the trans from a 95 cherokee with 231 and 4.0 swap into an 88 with a 4.0 and 231? The 88 has the comfort and power shift but the 95 does't.
If it will work the 88 might become a new toy and not my 94.
Both are in a local salvage yard for the cheap.

No. 87-90 are 21 spline and 91+ is 23 spline.
You might be able to find an adapter, but is not a direct swap.

What if I swapped in the 95 transfer case to?
