Blown transfer case?

I am looking for an xj to purchase and came across what could be a decent deal except the output shaft on the transfer case has sheered off. I believe do to no slip yoke eliminator with the jeep being lifted ~5 inches. The lady doesnt know much about the jeep but told me that the only way it moves is in 4L. I thought that is should also move in 4H if the T-case was in good shape but she claims her mechanic said that it would in fact only move in 4L. So basicly if it only moves in 4L and not 4H is the transfercase a lost cause?

Time for a rebuild. If you get this thing real cheap then rebuild the transfer case with a SYE and a 4to 1 lowrange kit.
