It was a nice day in Jersey today and I went under the Jeep to replace the X-fer case fluid. (been meaning to do it, I've owned the jeep for three years now it was time.) As far as I can tell the old fluid was red, clear and not burnee smelling.
Now for the speedo part.
After the fluid change, Mobil 1 full synthetic, I hopped in the cab and gave it a shakedown run. My speedo would bounce some time after 50 mph. Not now, smooth as 12 year old scotch.
So if you have a bounceing speedo, check you x-fer case fluid
