hurt to clean the cps?

should I clean it while I have the engine out of my jeep or should i leave well enough alone? The jeep was starting fine before,i don't want to mess up a good thing.. if I should clean it,what is the best way? 92 4.0 5 speed.

I'd recommend nothing more serious than wiping it off with a clean rag.
