Rear end shutter/ clicking

I've got an '88 xj wagoneer, while driving and accelerating I can feel and hear a shutter/ clicking noise coming from the rear diff. A few days went by and it is now worse, especially during acceleration. Any suggestions would be a great help!! Thanks Jeepers!!:doh: :huh:

Are you sure it is the diff? Check your u-joint on the rear driveshaft first.

Double check your pinion bearing. Otherwise, the most likely is a ujoint on the driveshaft.

I would check the ujoint on the shaft fast. My Ujoint broke 2 months ago. Pushing up hill in rush hour isnt fun. (unless your 4wd works) mine didn't at the time.

And if its none of those, check to see if you have a LSD in the rear. I had a similar problem and found out it was a LSD with bad clutches.
