what did the good 8.8 diffs come in,looking to upgrade from the 8.25.

Explorer 96+ if you want the disc brakes and a possible limited slip.

What do you mean by "good"?

96 and up had disc's but I'd go for the non limited slip axle this leaves you more options for lunch box lockers. You can't put a lockright or similar in a LS carrier. If you go ARB or Detroit it won't matter. Don't forget to weld the axle tubes..

Not to hijack but..
can you add a mini spool to the LS carrier if you take the guts out of it?
