If anybody knows a good place to search for a Dana 44 rear end, I would appreciate it. I've been browsing the internet, but only able to find new parts, that were factory surplus. And as i don't want to spend $1200 on an axle, I was hoping somebody might know a good place to search for a used axle.

As you've found, they are pretty rare here in Oregon for some reason. Just got to keep an eye out. I scored one at a local yard a couple weeks ago (even talked them down from $350 to $200). They said they haven't had one of those for several YEARS, and they have a lot of Cherokees.
