Are the speakers in a 97-01 XJ really 5 1/4 inch? I just bought some and they look way to small. 6 1/2 is the next size up but im afraid they maybe be to big. So which is it?

5.25" door and overhead bar on my '98...
The grill size is decieving.

You can fit 6 1/2's, you just need to drill new holes. I've done it and so have many others.

6.5" in mine. Works great and sounds great.

I put in infinity reference 5.25 in the front and put in some 6 1/2 in the back, you have to trim a little but its worth it if the price was right on the speakers.
