If I made these brackets which I am going to, out of 1/4" steel, can I add on some dring tabs to go with my stock bumper kind of like the detour back bone system , only minus the winch plate, since I dont need that.

I guess really what I want to know is how can I incorporate some tabs like these
imagemagic.php

to these 1/4" brackets http://www.twisted-halo.com/digicam/xj/Bumper mount.pdf

No, dont put those on your stock bumper. It will rip the bumper out on the first pull.

Either get a better bumper, or get tow hook brackets.

no u missunderstood what i said, i am not welding these to my bumper !!!!!!!!

I was thinking of making the bracket a little bit longer on the forward end, this way I can weld 2 1/4" pieces on each side of this lengthened part of the bracket that would be 1 inch thick and be good enough to pull off of and the d-ring tab.

nevermind I found what I was trying to describe finally. this is what I was looking for on post number 21

just do this, i used 3/8s

and it requires no welding
and make sure you use quarter, or this could happen

i also recomend you make a bracket with a 90 degree that bolts to the holes in the front crossmember, and the the front bumper holes, as it would probobly bend the crap out of the unibody there on an angled pull

ya i was gonna make that 90 degree bracket there as well.
