Gauge Trick??

that function calibrates the cluster
most chryslers do that
and you dont have to cycle the key a bunch of times
just hold the trip down, turn the key on and wait 5-7 sec
its pretty common for neons and pt cruisers to have the tach or speedo
flip around and get on the other side of the orange pin if you cal. it they usualy will come around.

I don't know that it applies to the XJ as well, but on the WJ, if the CEL is on, the odometer will display the thrown codes after it does its countup cycle.

maybe with later than 96 xjs it will display it in ODO but most pre 96 have rotary mechanical odometers. my girlfriends 05 neon does it though cycle the key on off three times codes display on odometer screen. with my 96 xj cycle key three times go by malfunction indicator light("check engine light") flasher see how to read the codes and waht they mean here http://www.go.jeep-xj.info/HowtoECUcodes.htm

but they calibration?? how is that done? can it be done with pre 96 with mechanical odo and trip like mine??
