cv joint "sleeve gasket"...

Please bear with me so I don't confuse you, I'm confused myself...

Assembled rear driveshaft cv joint last nite ('bout 2:00am), there's a sleeve that protects the ball/spring/socket in the cv joint. Narrow metal base, about 1.5 inches long rubber piece, you get the picture.

Installed this sleeve with the metal base sitting in the socket "cv socket flange", the part that contains the cv ball and needle bearings, NOT the "cv weld" yoke end that contains the protrusion and houses that little spring.

Couldn't check where the original sleeve was because the rebuilder never bothered to put this four-dollar sleeve in, but mine fit nicely into the "cv socket flange".

Am attaching a previous thread that does not show the sleeve, but the yoke/flange's that could give hint to answer to my question; did I install this sleeve in the correct position?

Thanks big time.
