Spline count info please...

I have a 93 XJ with a 242 t-case... and I'm starting my 231 search. How do I know the amount of splines that I need on the t-case etc. I've seen lots of posts where someone has bought a t-case and then is selling it cuz the spline count was wrong. I just want to buy one that will fit right away. Any tips for me?

The spline count break was around 1990 (could be as early as 1989, as late as 1991. I can't swear to it right now...) You should have the later 23-spline input, and the early inputs were all 21-spline.

Get an NP231 from 1991 or later - you'll the the input gear you need, and you'll get one WITHOUT the vacuum switch for the disconnect front axle (which you don't have, since you have a 1993.)
