Vents for air and heat

Does anyone have a quick fix for this problem...The only way I can get heat and or air is to have it come out of the defroster vents...seems the panel and floor vents don't work...any help?

either cables or vac lines are broken or off

You have a vacuum leak. When the HVAC system is not getting enough vacuum, the default position is "defrost". Start searching your vacuum system for a broken line, or maybe look at your vacuum reservoir in the right front bumper for cracks, etc.

If you've recently done any stereo work in the dash, start checking the lines there. I had a stereo installed in another Cherokee that I had, and when the head unit was put in the dash, it knocked loose a vaccum line to the AC controls.
