Should my front driveshaft and axles rotate when my 98 XJ coasts in 2wd ? I noticed it spinning when my son rolled it into the driveway. Seems like an aweful lot of steel to be pushing when not in use.... My old for truck has auto locking/unlocking wheel hubs that prevent this in 2wd. Just curious...

And as always - TIA (thanks in advance)

Bummer. Anyone make hubs for 98 XJ or am I living in dreamland?

Pretty sure they all do but the cost is much more than any savings.

There are hub conversions out there, but they are targeted more towards increased durability and strength. Around $1000 is an awful lot to spend in an effort to save a few pennies a tankful. Considering you're driving the aerodynaimic equivilent of a brick, suddenly the extra little drag the front driveshaft may induce isn't that big a deal. IMHO

Good luck.
