im wondering if there is anything i need to look for on a D60 or are all of them pretty much worth getting? its from a 1979 ford f250. i did a little serching but nothing that saidm uch baout the d60 rears other than that they are easy to find. are there any pros and cons to certain years? thanks alex

Ditto, much better to save yourself the hassle of boring the spindles to 1.6" and try and find a Dodge van 60 with the large spindles. Early 90's is the year range.

it's only 30 spline, same size as a D44, but full-floater. they really aren't much stornger than a D44, and to get 35 spline shafts in there you have to bore out the spindles. pretty common axle, nothing special to it really.

Only 30 spline, but you do get the advantage of larger gears. Boring out the spindle isn't all that difficult either and then you can stick in a 35 spline carrier and some shafts and wallah... stout axle

ALOT of the semi-float D60s are 35 spline.

Depends on what this guy wants to do with the 60. If he's going to narrow it, any old housing will work, just weld the bearing ends on. If he's keeping it full width and 8 lug, then the full-float feature is nice to retain.
