Is there any certain year explorer front DS I should be looking for when I head to the junkyard tomw? Ive read the posts and say that static length is 35" and thats what I need in the rear of the XJ, so just was wondering if that was only certain years or not.
Thanks,
-Matt

35" is not true at all. Front Explorer shafts are an inch shorter than XJ auto front shafts. If you like you can have the one on my garage floor. Bronco 2s had rear CV shafts, but used 1210 joints. Older Explorers had front CV shafts, used 1310 joints, but are 30" colapsed, and 33 extended. I picked one up not knowing. Not sure of the year, but around late 90s Ford went to a different set-up. Didn't use CV shaft anymore. I got one out of a 91 cause I actually thought I could use it, but was wrong. Sorry Charlie.
