Aux. Cooling fan wont shut off

Hello.
It's been a long time since I've been on...this sure has come a long way since 1998!. First off, yes, I did a search and couldn't find anything.
97 XJ - the aux. electric cooling fan wont shut off, in fact it ran for several hours the other day (usually it shuts off after the engine cools) but this day it was about 20 degrees. I finally had to disconnect it. I just plugged it back in on a totally cold engine and it started right up with the engie off and nothing in the ignition. Could this be a bad relay or somethig else??

First thing I'd check would be the fan relay.
It could be stuck closed. Just swap it with the fuel pump relay to see if that's what the problem is.
