rear hatch electrical connections

Hey... so, had a problem with the wiring in my '96 (surprise surprise )... I've been able to fix up the wiring situation, circut now connects fine. The only thing I have left to do before I have a fully functioning 'open the hatch, the interior lights turn on' system, is to figure out where the wire is supposed to connect to!

If anyone knows where the purple wire with the yellow strip should attach to, I'd be forever grateful! (I know, newbie, doesn't mean much... but, I would! ).

A picture would really rock, but even an explanation would suffice. I've touched the connection to every part of the latch I can, and everywhere completes the circut, so I don't know where to attach it to at this point.

If you havnt already taken the cover off yet, theres a switch in there for the interior lights.

ahh, I need it to work properly as I'm having a car alarm installed on Monday.
