np231/d35 drive shaft length

Im running an NP231/D35 set up. I have recently aquired an XJ Dana44. Im currently in the process of lifting my 88 pioneer 3". My question is, will my current drive shaft work with the D44 and the added 3" of lift. Im thinking that the lift will make up for the length differance between the D35 and the D44 pinion/yoke. Am I on the right track? Thanxj
