Dome light problem

I have a 96 xj sport 4 dr with 145K. I will drive down the road and hit a bump and the dome light will turn on. Next bump and it is off. It is about at half brightness compared to when I turn the dome on by twisting the pull knob. I open and close all the doors and hatch and never helps turn it off. If I jump on the bumper or trailer hitch it will turn off (this gets some wierd looks in the morning at the office)

Any Ideas?

I would think this has to be a loose wire somewhere. Probably behind the door buttons. Not sure, but that is where I would start.

Agreed. Take them off one at a time and reseat the connectors. Mine were slightly corroded.
