Most likely master/slave cylinder unless you felt a very large bang.

check the fluid level, and if its gone check the line to the slave cylinder. it is dangerously close to the exhaust manifold, and there is nothing but a flimsy bit of insulating material around it. I hit a big puddle one day, the steam from the exhaust softened the line and I just happened to hit the clutch at the same time. if the line is ruptured, your local NAPA has some brass compression fittings that work nicely once the deformed section is removed.

x2.
My exhaust manifold has a leak that cooked the rubber clutch line, it burst in short order.

I dont have a leak from what i can see. i also did notice that my level of oil was actually higher than it was than usual. when i push the rod into the master it only has about 3/8 of resistance on the shaft. there is about 3/4 inch movement before i get any resistance at all, but what i dont understand is that the oil level was higher than it should have been. ????? HELP Jay

since my pedal goes to the floor it has to be either the master or slave right???

If you still have fluid, or more fluid.....in a word YES
you should be ashamed of yourself for bumping your own thread after 20 minutes!

im sorry guys im just trying to get this fixed. i have figured out what is wrong with it, what is going on is that the piston iside the cylinder isnt coming back enough to disengage the slave. thx jay
