My birthday present....speed

I've got the coolest wife ever......this is what she gave me for my 40th birthday. Spent last Saturday morning at the Las Vegas Speedway.

The track looks big until you get in the car and get it up to speed, then it feels more like the track at the local high school. Best lap time was 1.5 mile @ 47 seconds/130 mph. Their cars are set up pretty tight and want to push in the corners at that speed, but I had a great time and look forward to another opportunity for more track time (faster laps)......only bad part about it was that it was over too soon.

I bucked up for a ride-along for Natalie to show her my appreciation, she got to ride with a pro driver at race speeds for 3 laps.

I did the Petty School at Walt Disney World Speedway about 5 years ago.

I was upset becuase I thought I only hit about 80 mph. Turns out I was around 125. It felt like 80 does in a street car though.

I was surprised how quiet it was in the car. I actually heard gravel and debris hitting off the undercarriage and the rocker panels.

Too much fun!

I want to do the one at Bristol next.

My wife was taking clients to a few of those, because of scheduling I never got to go along. She's run Talladega, Texas Motor Speedway, and California Motor Speedway plus some small Indy cars in CA.
